AAAAH CHOOO!
On Saturday we were totally up for a beach day...your mission if you choose to accept it Adam Barton is to change colour - the only thing holding us back was indeed the weather, surprise surprise! We ignored the clouds for as long as we possibly could...got ready, went for some burgerlicious burgers, walked to beach, laid down towels, Adam even took his shirt off for a minute...then the wind/sandstorm/empty beach managed to eventually deter us and our beach day turned into a cafe afternoon. Then of course we had to go home so Adam could sleep off all the exercise and sunshine!
Since it didn't feel like we were really leaving Sydney, it took all our efforts to start packing and even more effort to get Adam back out of bed an hour later to go and watch the sunset over the City. Once again the clouds really weren't on our side but we did get a couple of dramatic cloud/sun/city shots before the sun disappeared completely (not below the horizon, behind a large band of grey cloud!)
Sunday started promisingly with us all up and out of bed early...washed, dressed, packed and ready to go - now it's Betty's turn to throw a tantrum, she obviously thought it would be funny to permanently lock the boot...ha ha ha. Our patience (well mine was) running thin and our option became; cram all the stuff in the back of the car and hope the unfortunate person in there with it didn't suffocate, try and find a garage open on a sunday?!, or Adams really useful suggestion of buying some flights and leaving the car where it was to be picked up who knows when?! Then Amy Campbell Soup stepped up the to ring and busted the lock open...we were in! To prevent any further dramas when we needed to get the stuff out we concocted a concealed string opening device - who needs keys huh!?
So thus begins the long journey to Brisbane - 1000km with four MacD's stops planned! We managed to make two and weren't tempted by a third...lightweights, we know! Adam went speeding past a police car in an attempt to NOT attract attention to us and I managed to book us into a hostel which seemed closer to Cairns than it did to Brisbane. We were staying in a harbourside town called Manlywith one pub, one hostel and a whole heap of jellyfish. The bar shut a little too early for our liking so we went in search of some more entertainment but the town was unanimous on the decision - you must go back to your hostel and go to bed.
I turned into Mosquito food during the night - looking on the brightside at least I managed to save Amy and Adam from getting any, right?!?
Day 2 in Manly and we have definitely been here too long already :) We got up too late to make it to any of the islands, which we figured out is the mian attraction of Manly, so instead we went to the beach. The beach in Manly resembles a swimming pool a lot more than an actual beach and that is because the sea around Manly is FULL of jellyfish. The pool was good though, it had a flume, a shaded area, lots of hard ground to lay on and plenty of screaming kids.
Adam changed colour either side of his watch strap and on the side of his neck - he has now taken over Amy's crown of comedy tan lines since she has discovered this new glue/paint/sunscreen invention that really works!
